#InConversation with BAMI

#BGFCommunity is our spotlight series featuring brands and businesses led by Black women and non-binary people.

we met with Bami, founder of B A M I — the story-telling brand with personality, creating limited edition hand-stitched leather accessories in London.

Bami shares more about her experience starting a business, becoming a vendor at Black Girl Festival and her plans for growing her business.

Why did you want to be a part of Black Girl Festival?

I knew that I would find my girls at Black Girl Fest and I knew that I would belong :)

How was being a vendor at the festival?

Exhilarating! I was overwhelmed with the love, positivity, good vibes and energy at the festival. It helped me see my brands potential and connected me with talent, creative individuals. Taking part was one of my highlights for 2019.

What was it like being surrounded by other businesses owned by Black British women?

Truly humbling. Seeing the creativity and drive amongst my sisters was inspiring and gave me hope for our futures. We do so much and can do so much more supporting each other.

What does community mean to you?

Community is my extended lifeline of family and friends. Taking part in events such as Black Girl Fest especially around Black History Month and International Women’s Day helped me find my community. Community = Support.
