#InConversation with Beautifultrooth Apothecary

#BGFCommunity is our spotlight series featuring brands and businesses led by Black women and non-binary people.

we met with Jameela, founder of Beautifultrooth Apothecary — a skincare brand that understands the impact sensitive skin has on your life.

Jameela shares more about her experience starting a business, becoming a vendor at Black Girl Festival and her plans for growing her business.

How would you describe your brand/ business?

We formulate natural skincare products using deliciously potent plant oils and butter in their purest form. Our highly effective formulations have been created to soothe, nourish and restore skin to its optimum state.

We understand the effects sensitive skin has on your life, it affects not only your skin but also your confidence and lifestyle. It makes those small day-to-day decisions that little bit trickier and we believe what you put on your skin should not be one of them.

Why did you want to be a part of Black Girl Festival?

We really wanted to be a part of Black Girl Festival because we thought it would be the perfect place to interact face to face with our community and celebrate black British business.

How was being a vendor at the festival?

Being a vendor at the festival was such a great experience, it was actually our first time vending anywhere and we loved it! We met so many amazing people and there were such a good vibe and a strong sense of community.

What was it like being surrounded by other businesses owned by Black British women?

It was inspiring seeing so many women of colour taking up space across so many different industries.

What does community mean to you?

To us, community means having space where you feel like you belong, with people that support and uplift one another.
