#InConversation with KitsCH Noir
#BGFCommunity is our spotlight series featuring brands and businesses led by Black women and non-binary people.
we me Cherelle, founder of KitsCH Noir — a fun, relatable, upbeat and positivity focused brand that shines a light on black British culture through various lifestyle and stationery products. The brand aims to normalise the image of people of colour in the greeting card industry.
Cherelle shares more about her experience starting a business, becoming a vendor at Black Girl Festival and her plans for growing her business.
Why did you want to be a part of Black Girl Festival?
I wanted to reach out to more of my ideal audience and Black girl festival was the perfect place. I have always followed the founders, Nicole and Paula and their achievements within our community have always inspired me. I jumped at the chance to sponsor the very first Black Girl festival by including some of my postcards in their goodie bags and will support the event until the cows come home!
How was being a vendor at the festival?
It was an absolute dream! It was truly like a black girl heaven! The atmosphere was so full of love and appreciation and there was a strong aroma of pure good vibes. It was by far the best event I have ever traded at. My brand was literally made to be sold at BGF!
What was it like being surrounded by other businesses owned by Black British women?
It was so uplifting and encouraging. It made me feel as though I am part of something extremely exclusive, amazing and special. I felt we were all at one with each other and I even made some new friends. My neighbour at the show was @everydayFroDay and we still keep in touch!
What does community mean to you?
A team, a family, a gathering or sisterhood that evolves through love and interest of the same passion.
