Founders Abi & Liha

Can you tell us a little bit about LIHA?

We are Liha Beauty. We create beauty products that are like us, a mixture of Natural African Roots and A Quintessentially British Attitude. We are empowering consumers with knowledge of raw ingredients and African beauty secrets.

Why did you both feel it was important to create LIHA Beauty?

We wanted to fill a space with something that we didn’t see. People would often ask us what we use and we would say Shea butter and black soap and we realised so many people didn’t know what they were! We wanted to share these wonderful products and ingredients with everyone.

Liha Idan Oil

What/Who are some of your inspirations behind LIHA?

Yoruba culture, English Aromatherapy, Hedgerow medicine, The Divine Feminine, Earth religions, Rivers/ Still Waters, Goddesses and Night Blooming flowers.

What are some of the intentions you set when producing your products?

To help people to slow down and take time for themselves, and honour their own worth and pace. Every time we formulate, we want to make something better than the last time. For the scent and feel of the products to take you somewhere else momentarily.

What self care rituals do you set for yourself to ensure you’re well rested and cared for?

No electronics in the bedroom, lots of baths and fires throughout the winter and turning my phone off for the whole weekend one weekend a month.

What are some of your favourite things to do when you’re not working on LIHA?

Playing saxophone, swimming, yoga , reading, rollerskating and journaling.

What can you envision for the beauty industry especially for Black Women?

We envision a wide space where there is room for everyone and women support each other instead of being in competition.
