BGF x Glossier 2024 Grantees Announced! 💅🏾

We are thrilled to introduce The BGF x Glossier Black Beauty Grant Programme grantees!

These Black women-owned beauty businesses will take part in our 12-week programme learning directly from the Glossier team, gaining expert advice from industry professionals and receiving a ÂŁ10K equity-free grant.

The partnership, which began in April 2023 is part of Glossier’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the beauty industry and beyond. Glossier aims to transform the perception of beauty by changing the industry itself. The UK Grant Programme is a key initiative in this mission, building on the success of Glossier’s US Grant Program that started in 2020.

The goal is to increase funding opportunities for Black beauty founders and raise awareness around the lack of funding available. The aim of the fund is to amplify the voices of Black beauty founders, celebrate their unique businesses, and work towards a more inclusive beauty industry.

Meet the 2024 BGF x Glossier Black Beauty Grantees:

ORÉ MI

Oré mi founder, Karen Olla founded the African lifestyle brand in 2019. Born out of the desire to break the taboo surrounding the topic of mental health in the Black community, share images & positive stories of a Black childhood and support and celebrate African lifestyle products.

Oré mi creates fragranced lifestyle products that positively transform your environment and mental state - drawing on their Nigerian roots and upbringing in London, Oré mi associates each fragrance with positive, personal stories and incorporates African superfoods into their range. All products are made to be sustainable, vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

IGOR HAIR

Igor Hair is the brainchild of hairstylist Danielle Igor who turned experimenting with wigs into a forward-thinking and diverse hair-solutions ecosystem, providing editorial-inspired ready-to-wear wigs, hairpieces and elevated accessories.

In 2017, Igor Hair began as a university side hustle and soon progressed into 'the brand known for their creative custom wigs' with big goals.

CARIBÉ

Caribé's mission is to break the boundaries of beauty and lifestyle for people of colour. The aim is to create innovative products that don’t just look good but feel it too. Products which include rather than exclude, protect your precious skin, and make you feel like you.

The founders are Leah, a dancer turned creative, with a passion for beauty and talent for innovative design. Currently running two businesses already - one in beauty and the other in crafts. Phoebe, an American Studies student turned finance professional, with a passion for social purpose and a sweet spot for colourful coats.

TÉLLE MOI

TĂ©lle Moi is a UK Indie Nail and Gel Polish Brand. All products are HEMA Free, Vegan and Cruelty-free. TĂ©lle Moi specialise in creating inclusive tones to suit all skin tones.

Officially launched in April 2019, Télle Moi emerged from founder, Natel Allen’s attempt to find a nude nail polish that complemented her skin tone. Frustrated by the lack of options in stores, she delved into extensive research, eventually mastering the art of colour theory. The result is a range of flattering and inclusive nude nail polishes and gel polishes. All of which are Vegan, Cruelty-free and HEMA-free.

AMI London

A niche skincare and wellness company, AMI London, is dedicated to addressing skincare needs with natural ingredients. As someone who grew up with skin imperfections, founder Damilola Akinnaike knows exactly how it feels to be insecure about your skin. This experience fuelled her commitment to assisting individuals with all types of skin issues including individuals with acne-prone skin.

To all of the businesses that applied for this year's programme: thank you for sharing your visions with us. We understand that this work is part of a bigger change that needs to happen within the beauty industry and we can’t wait to scale this work to create more opportunities for our community in the future.

We are excited to share these wonderful founders with you and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Congratulations!
